Working Together

Smart Beginnings Greater Richmond exemplifies what can be achieved when communities work together. We are a regional initiative with more than 100 organizational partners working together to ensure that all children enter school healthy, well-cared for, and ready to succeed.

Greater Richmond Campaign for Grade-Level Reading

These broad-based coalition meetings bring together partners and community stakeholders from across the region to focus on School Readiness (Smart Beginnings), Literacy and Summer Learning (United Way) and Chronic Absence (Bridging Richmond). These meetings are geared to achieve the following results: share best-practices, align activities, mobilize funding, and use data to drive decision-making.

  • May 4, 2018

All meetings are held from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.; locations vary.

Locality-Based Action Teams

These groups of cross-sector practitioners and individuals focus on specific geographic areas and are organized around the goals of the Regional Plan for School Readiness 2017–2020. The teams use a continuous improvement process to develop action plans and strategies to impact families and children in their neighborhood, city, or county.

Chesterfield/Colonial Heights School Readiness Committee

  • Meets bi-monthly (2nd Mondays in September, November, January, March, and May) from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
